Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in the United States is seeking a dialysis patient care technician to join the health care team under supervision of a licensed nurse. You will assist in the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines and help maintain a safe, clean treatment environment.

Responsibilities include patient education, monitoring vital signs, assisting with cannulation, administering heparin as delegated, documenting treatment data, and supporting CQI activities to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required.
• Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards.
• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient education on adequacy measures and dialysis concepts under supervision.
• Assist in setup and operation of hemodialysis machines and monitor patient responses during treatment.
• Record vital signs, weight, and treatment parameters; ensure accurate documentation in treatment sheets.
• Monitor and evaluate vascular access patency, cannulation, and anticoagulation as delegated or allowed by state law.
• Maintain infection control practices and ensure a clean, safe treatment environment.
• Support transitional care for new patients, including orientation to modalities and home dialysis options.
