Qualifications

• Provides patient care within dialysis unit under supervision; assists in education of patients about adequacy and monitoring practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing and operating hemodialysis machines.
• Educate patients on adequacy measures and disease process.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency and assist in cannulation.
• Record vital signs, weights and treatment parameters; document in treatment sheets.
• Monitor patient responses to dialysis and report changes to nurse/supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and prepare supplies for treatments.
• Assist in training direct care staff and follow infection control policies.
• Support transitional care and patient education on home dialysis options.
