Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking an Ophthalmic Diagnostic Technician to perform diagnostic tests ordered by ophthalmologists. You will work with the Diagnostics team to provide patient care and ensure clean, ready examination rooms.

The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years of ophthalmic diagnostic testing experience, a High School Diploma, and BLS certification or plan to obtain it within 6 months of hire. The position follows a Tue–Thu 7:45am–4:45pm schedule in League City, TX.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• BLS certification required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• 1-2 years of experience performing diagnostic testing for an ophthalmologist.
• Available Tuesday through Thursday, 7:45am-4:45pm.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic tests as ordered by an Ophthalmologist (Visual Testing, OCT, corneal topography, IOL calculations, pachymetry, specular microscopy, fundus photography).
• Prepare/clean/maintain exam rooms and ensure overall cleanliness of diagnostic areas.
• Assist in maintaining equipment and report issues to supervisor.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and privacy standards.
• Work in outpatient clinic environment with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

The Diagnostic Technician works with the Diagnostics team to provide services to a wide arrange of patients and their Physicians.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms a variety of technical procedures that require knowledge and good patient care, to include:a. Visual Testingb. Ocular Coherence Tomography(OCT)c. Corneal Topographyd. IOL Master/Lenstare. Basic IOL Calculationsf. Pachemetryg. Specular Microscopy(ECC)h. Basic Fundus Photographyi. External Photography for Ocular Plastics and Eye Muscle Documentationj. Preparing/Cleaning/Maintaining Exam RoomsAssumes responsibility with team for the overall cleanliness of diagnostic roomsAdvises Director of any problems with equipmentComplies with HIPPA regulationsResponsible for continuing education and professional developmentAll other duties as assignedPHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTRequires corrected hearing and vision to within functional ranges. Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds and sufficient manual dexterity to operate therapeutic equipment. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to handle behavioral issues of patients and visitors while under highly stressful and volatile situations. Work is performed in an outpatient clinic environment.
