Responsibilities

• Reviews patient’s medical history and physician’s instructions.
• Prepares equipment for procedure. Selects appropriate equipment settings.
• Explains procedure to patient and records any medical history that may be relevant to the condition being viewed.
• Directs the patient to move into positions that will provide the best view.
• Operates ultrasound equipment to capture diagnostic images for interpretation by a physician.
• Views the screen during the scan and selects images for the physician.
• Takes measurements, calculates values, and analyzes results in preliminary reports.
• Maintains patient records and keeps equipment in good working order.
