Job Summary $15,000 sign on bonus for eligible applicants!! This posting reflects an opening for an Xray Technologist I and we are seeking candidates for that position. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role, including Xray Technologist II, based on their skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

Radiologic Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, acquiring and analyzing data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Radiologic Technologists independently perform or assist licensed practitioners in completing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. They also prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or institutional policies.

Job Duties
  1. Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  2. Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety, care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  3. Prepare and/or administer medications through vascular access sites as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  4. Evaluate images for proper positioning and technical quality, verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, and perform post-processing if applicable.
  5. Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.
  6. Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
  7. Perform diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed, including outside of the Radiology Department (e.g., Operating Room, Endoscopy, ICU).

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The employee is accountable for fulfilling all job-specific obligations and complying with organizational policies and procedures. The specific statements are not all-inclusive but represent typical elements necessary for successful job performance. Additional competencies and skills outlined in department-specific orientation will also be essential.

Position Details
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps to advance to level 2 within 24 months.
