Job summary

Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, ensuring patient safety and data accuracy. You will collaborate with licensed practitioners, prepare and image patients, and participate in procedures outside the Radiology Department as needed.

Requirements include graduation from a Radiologic Technology program and ARRT certification within 24 months, plus strong communication and teaching abilities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a specialty Radiologic Technology training program.
  • ARRT certification required/within 24 months of employment.
  • Strong communication and teaching skills.
  • Experience with radiologic and fluoroscopic procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures correct patient identification, preparation, and documentation with confidentiality.
  • Uses imaging protocols, adheres to ALARA principles, and optimizes patient care.
  • Administers medications as prescribed and supports licensed practitioners.
  • Evaluates image quality and ensures data transfer/archival accuracy.
  • Educates and mentors students and staff; assists in OR, ICU, and other settings.
  • Performs diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures as needed across departments.

Job Summary

$30,000 sign on bonus for eligible applicants!! Radiologic Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. A Radiologic Technologist performs a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures and acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Radiologic Technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Radiologic Technologists prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.

Job Duties
  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
  • Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  • Assisting the licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
  • Performing diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, including those procedures performed outside of the Radiology Department (i.e., Operating room, Endoscopy, ICU, etc.).
  • Demonstrates commitment to department and organizational priorities.
  • Fully proficient in all assigned routine and complex job duties., including all procedures in the Operating Room.
  • Participates in modality quality or process improvement activities.
  • Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
  • Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
