Job description

Job Summary: $15,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants! This posting reflects an opening for an X-ray Technologist I. We are seeking candidates for this position, but Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels, such as X-ray Technologist II, based on skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

Radiologic Technologists are responsible for administering ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, acquire and analyze data for diagnosis, and work independently or assist licensed practitioners. They also prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure, complying with federal and state laws and institutional policies.

Job Duties
  1. Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared, and clinical history is documented while respecting confidentiality.
  2. Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply principles of ALARA to maximize patient safety and care.
  3. Prepare and/or administer medications through vascular access as prescribed.
  4. Evaluate images for proper positioning and quality, and verify data storage and transfer.
  5. Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
  6. Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures.
  7. Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures outside the Radiology Department as needed.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The role requires compliance with organizational policies and additional department-specific competencies.

Position Details
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.
Education & Experience
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience (Preferred)
Certifications & Licenses
  • Radiography (R) - ARRT
  • Basic Life Support Certification
