Role Overview

Radiologic Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging procedures using ionizing radiation. They independently conduct radiographic and fluoroscopic exams, ensuring patient safety, proper positioning, and image quality. They prepare, administer, and document medications and radiation exposure in compliance with laws and policies. They also assist licensed practitioners during procedures and evaluate images for adequacy. Additionally, they educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, and may perform procedures outside the radiology department.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain correct patient identification, prepare for exams, and document clinical history.
• Optimize imaging protocols and apply ALARA principles to ensure safety.
• Assist with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures.
• Evaluate images for quality and verify data storage or transfer.
• Educate and supervise students and other healthcare staff.
• Perform procedures in various clinical settings, including operating rooms and ICU.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology.
• New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months.
• Applicants hired after a specified date must complete steps for advancement within 24 months.
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
