Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a radiologic technologist to ensure proper patient identification and preparation for exams while adhering to imaging protocols and ALARA principles. The role includes assisting with fluoroscopic procedures, performing diagnostic radiography outside the radiology department, and ensuring data integrity and patient safety.

New graduates must obtain ARRT-R within 6 months of hire, and staff hired after March 10, 2024 must complete steps to advance to level 2 within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Ensures correct patient identification and prepares patient for exam.
• Uses imaging protocol and ALARA principles to maximize safety and care.
• Assists licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
• Performs diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed, including in OR/ICU/Endoscopy.
• Educates and monitors students and other health care providers.
• Prepares and/or administers medications via vascular access as prescribed.

Job description

• Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
• Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
• Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
• Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
• Assisting the licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
• Performing diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, including those procedures performed outside of the Radiology Department (i.e., Operating room, Endoscopy, ICU, etc.).
