Summary
The Therapeutic and Diagnostic Imaging service at the Dayton VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (CT). The Technologist operates complex CT equipment to acquire diagnostic images of the human anatomy for medical diagnosis and treatment.
Qualifications
Applicants pending completion of educational or certification requirements may be tentatively referred but cannot be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed only if qualified citizens are unavailable.
- Certification: Must be certified in general radiologic technology by ARRT (R). Advanced ARRT certification is required for CT, MRI, or Mammography duties performed independently.
- Education: Completion of a 24-month or longer accredited diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or associate degree.
- English Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Additional Qualifications and Conditions:
- Experience: At least one year of related experience demonstrating clinical competencies.
- Specialized Knowledge: Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, imaging techniques, and ability to assess contraindications.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy weights, stand for long periods, perform repetitive movements, and other physical demands.
- Other: Must meet VA standards for physical and mental fitness.
Duties
- Receive and interpret procedure requests for accuracy.
- Review requisitions for consistency with clinical history.
- Prepare equipment and assist patients, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Perform imaging procedures, evaluate image quality, and make adjustments as needed.
- Identify pathology and communicate findings to radiologists.
- Maintain records, inventory, and perform clerical duties related to patient care.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule and Benefits
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 4:30 pm or 10:30 am - 7:00 pm, varies by department needs.
