Qualifications

• Current New York State licensure to practice Diagnostic Radiography.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Completion of a two year approved ARRT School.

Responsibilities

• Operates X-ray Equipment in accordance with State and Federal Codes.
• Positions patient for proper orientation of anatomy.
• Aligns the center of the part to be demonstrated to the center of the film.
• Sets the correct tube angle and uses the correct SID.
• Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.
• Identifies film and/or other identification by displaying right and left marker properly; labels all images.
• Labels contrast media and medications on the sterile field per policies.
• Evaluates requisition for patient identification, procedure, and order; verifies clinical history.
• Provides patient care by verifying identification, preparing patient, and ensuring safety.
• Maintains patient dignity and comfort; communicates professionally with age-appropriate language.
• Operates HIS/RIS in accordance with policy to track and manage data.
• Pursues continuing education; completes 12 credits annually.
• Performs daily Quality Assurance checks on equipment and safety protocols.
