Role Overview

The Diagnostic Medical and Vascular Sonographer performs general and vascular sonography procedures under supervision, following department protocols. Responsibilities include performing ultrasound procedures on patients from neonatal to geriatric, assisting physicians with interventional procedures, selecting technical parameters, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Obtain high-quality scans considering patient body habitus and prep status, as observed by radiologists and educators.
• Review all images and complete ultrasound worksheets promptly; re-scan patients as needed.
• Complete exams efficiently, evaluate patient prep, and coordinate throughput to maintain department schedule.
• Update exam status in the computer system, ensure accurate charges, and verify correct exam and patient assignment before releasing images.
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment safely, adhering to infection control standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an Ultrasound Program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• ARDMS credentials, including:
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) (AB)
• RDMS (OB/GYN)
• Vascular Technology (RVT)
