Job summary

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) in Fairfax County, VA, seeks a Content Tutor for diagnostic medical sonography to assist students with math, sciences and writing while supporting faculty with resources.

The tutor will lead one-on-one and group sessions, help form study groups, assign software tools, and share information to promote academic improvement as needed; evenings/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Communication and written skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to assist undergraduate learners with course content.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring assistance to students as needed.
• Assist ASC Manager in forming specialized study groups as need arises.
• Assign software programs to assist students in various academic programs.
• Distribute information leading to academic improvement.
• Consult with faculty regarding center’s resources.
• Research current list of useful Internet resources for student and faculty use.
• Work closely with Tutoring Services Coordinator, academic discipline faculty and staff, and Student Services faculty and staff to provide optimal services to students.
• Provide tutoring services orientation for any willing faculty member.
