Bay State Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Services (BSVESS) seeks a Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Technician to join our emergency and specialty hospital. You will produce diagnostic images using digital radiography and CT, support anesthesia, and collaborate with specialists to provide top-tier care.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years as a veterinary technician, with imaging experience. We offer extensive CE opportunities, mentorship, and cross-training across the hospital.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent veterinary technician experience, preferably with diagnostic imaging responsibilities.
• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) preferred
• VTS in Diagnostic Imaging highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Obtain high-quality diagnostic images using digital radiography and CT equipment
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of animal anatomy to ensure accurate patient positioning
• Complete imaging requests for multiple specialty and emergency departments
• Calculate and administer medications as directed
• Perform anesthetic induction and endotracheal intubation
• Monitor anesthetized patients during imaging procedures
• Operate anesthetic equipment safely and effectively

As a member of our Diagnostic Imaging team, you'll play a vital role in helping diagnose and treat patients ranging from stable elective cases to critically ill emergency patients. Position Overview

The Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Technician is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images using digital radiography and computed tomography (CT). This position requires strong technical skills, advanced patient monitoring abilities, and the capability to adapt quickly to the needs of both routine and critical cases.

Essential Responsibilities

• Obtain high-quality diagnostic images utilizing digital radiography and CT equipment
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of animal anatomy to ensure accurate patient positioning
• Complete imaging requests for multiple specialty and emergency departments
• Calculate and administer medications as directed
• Perform anesthetic induction and endotracheal intubation
• Monitor anesthetized patients throughout imaging procedures
• Operate anesthetic ventilators, rebreathing systems, and non-rebreathing systems safely and effectively
• Maintain imaging equipment, quality assurance records, and departmental logs
• Collaborate closely with specialists, emergency clinicians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care
• Respond appropriately to changing patient conditions and medical emergencies

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of recent veterinary technician experience, preferably with diagnostic imaging responsibilities
• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) preferred
• Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in Diagnostic Imaging highly desirable
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Strong understanding of veterinary medicine and patient care
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to veterinary care
