Job summary

North Canyon Network of Care is seeking a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist to operate radiologic equipment, produce diagnostic X-ray films, and assist physicians in diagnostic procedures. You will follow ALARA principles, position patients, and work with digital radiography while communicating with patients and supporting the Radiologist during examinations and film library tasks.

The role requires graduation from a School of Radiologic Science with current ARRT/ARDMS/NMTCB certification,

Qualifications

  • Certification from ARRT, ARDMS, or NMTCB and graduation from an approved School of Radiologic Science.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiographic positioning techniques.
  • Ability to work with patients across age groups and evolving clinical needs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce diagnostic x-ray films as prescribed.
  • Follow ALARA principles and established standards to ensure safety.
  • Position patients correctly and adjust machine controls per guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Radiologist during diagnostic and surgical procedures.
  • Process images with digital radiography and manage film library tasks.

Description

Under general supervision, the Diagnostic Imaging Technologist operates radiologic equipment to produce clinical diagnostic x-ray films as prescribed by physicians. They perform routine diagnostic procedures in accordance to the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle and the established standards and practices. They produce images of all anatomical structures of the body involving a variety of orthopedic, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, head and neck and/or body section radiography. They follow basic guidelines for positioning the patient and set machine controls as directed by State law. They produce quality images of delicate anatomical structure in performing body section radiography, work under sterile conditions in surgery, and communicate with the patient to obtain pertinent information to aid in the diagnosis of the patient. They process images using digital radiography.

Requirements
  • Graduation from a School of Radiologic Science with current certification from the appropriate governing agency i.e., ARRT, ARDMS, NMTCB.
  • Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit/area(s) of assignment.
  • Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension/expression.
  • Ability and willingness to work with patients’ growth and development needs particularly related to the age of patients in the unit/area(s) of assignment.
  • Ability to manage a challenges work environment related to changing patient needs, including work with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who are dying.

  • Possess the knowledge and ability to perform and assist the Radiologist with various Diagnostic procedures, Surgery procedures as well as Film Library functions.
  • Utilize information provided in each departmental technical manual.
  • Possess the knowledge of exam preparations required for fluoroscopic and tomographic procedures.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of various software programs within the department.
  • Must have good working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Must understand the methods of physics, electricity and radiographic procedures.
  • Considerable initiative and judgment must be used in determining proper anatomical position and calculating exposure

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequently required to communicate, maintain a stationary position, move/traverse. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, twisting/turning from waist pushing/pulling, reach above shoulder level. Frequent ability to lift/carry up to 10 lbs. and seldomly up to 50 lbs. Ability to bend and stoop, push, pull and manage equipment and lift up to 50 lbs and seldomly up to 100 lbs or over. Position requires the use of hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulating.
