Diagnostic Imaging Sonographer Technician

Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCVS) has been committed to delivering exceptional emergency and specialty veterinary care for many years. Recognizing the need for high-quality veterinary services in underserved communities, GCVS is expanding its reach with a secondary satellite location in Webster, TX. This new facility will bring the same expertise, state-of-the-art technology, and compassionate care to a broader area, making critical and specialized treatments more accessible to pet owners.


We are seeking a Sonographer Technician who is a dynamic leader with a proven track record of success, to provide high-quality ultrasound imaging services to support the diagnosis and treatment of animal patients.


Overview:

The Sonographer Technician is responsible for providing responsible and compassionate care to all GCVS-NP patients, collaborating effectively with staff and doctors to ensure the success and quality of ultrasound studies. Key responsibilities include performing comprehensive ultrasound examinations as requested by veterinarians, assisting with patient data entry, setting up studies, and providing patient restraint when necessary. Additionally, the Sonographer Technician will contribute to the cleaning and maintenance of ultrasound machines and ensure the ultrasound areas remain well-stocked. As time permits, they may assist and train in other areas of the diagnostic imaging department.

Compensation:
  • $70,000- $75,000, depending on experience
  • $5,000 - Sign On Bonus for eligible candidates
Anticipated Schedule:
  • Full Time
  • Monday - Friday
  • 8am-5pm
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performing ultrasound studies on a variety of animal species:
    • Abdominal Ultrasounds
    • Echocardiograms
    • Musculoskeletal studies
    • Neck/Thyroid Studies
    • Vascular Studies
  • Assisting with other imaging studies and patient restraint as needed:
    • Digital Radiographs
    • Ultrasound-guided procedures
    • CT Scans
    • Nuclear Medicine studies
  • Training others (i.e. interns, sonographers, etc) on performing ultrasounds
  • Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning
  • Typing on a computer keyboard
  • Performing general function of the phone system
  • Data entry of imaging requests and creating report requests as needed
  • Recording ultrasound study findings in logs
  • Recording patient information in Cornerstone as needed
  • Assisting in organizing and scheduling imaging studies
  • Performing daily cleaning and maintenance on all ultrasound equipment
  • Keeping logs of any malfunction and contacting service companies
  • Stocking and cleaning in ultrasound area
  • Disinfecting all equipment after each patient
  • Working a full shift on Saturday when needed
Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, including word processing, designing forms, maintaining files, dictation and transcription, communicating via email, and the use of computer programs to manage and maintain client and patient information.
  • Ability to learn and work with E-Film, Remedyview, Mirage, and RDC software applications.
  • Using social perceptiveness to be aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  • Knowledge of clinic procedures in support of streamlining clients’ experiences with us.
  • Knowledge of patient care standards in support of providing the highest level of medical case management.
  • Knowledge of client communication standards to provide the highest level of customer service.

  • Associate's degree or Certificate from a CAAHEP accredited program are required
  • Current ARDMS certification required
  • Additional education and veterinary experience preferred.
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
  • Technical Experience: Veterinary Technician experience in a tertiary setting strongly preferred.
  • Work Ethic: Positive attitude and adaptability to changing situations.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on details while maintaining awareness of broader goals.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
  • Physical Abilities: Capability to handle, lift, and restrain animals; ability to stand for long periods and perform medical procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Independent Work: Ability to work autonomously and produce high-quality outcomes.
  • Multi-tasking: Skilled at handling multiple priorities effectively.
