Summary of Job Duties:

Shift: Mon - Fri with Weekend Call

The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer performs transthoracic, exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiograms on adult patients utilizing appropriate techniques (M-Mode, 2D, Doppler Color Flow, Spectral Doppler and bubble studies).

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Sonography Program.
  • Cardiac ultrasound experience, including treadmill and pharmacologic stress testing preferred.
  • Prefer Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS). Must be registry eligible. Must complete registration within one year of employment.
  • Current CPR required
Additional Information:
  • Sets up for and assists the physician or licensed provider with procedures and examinations.
  • Sets up for, and assists with Transesophageal studies including patient monitoring and manipulation of ultrasound equipment controls.
  • Performs all required online and offline measurements, calculations and velocities of acquired images.
  • Recognizes distinct types of cardiac diseases and pathology.
  • Immediately reports critical findings to the reading cardiologist(s).
  • Initiates IV access as needed, and according to UAMS policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes and administers contrast (perflutren or bubble) according to UAMS policies and procedures and documents correctly as evidenced by quarterly performance improvement data.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
