Job summary

Davey Coach Sales is seeking a Diagnostic Bus Technician for our Norwalk, CA location. You will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, ensuring safety and quality for timely delivery, and perform light to heavy maintenance as required.

You will analyze vehicle conditions, estimate repair costs, and communicate with the dispatcher and production team to keep vehicles on schedule. ASE certification, a high school diploma/GED, and a broad tool set are preferred.

Qualifications

• Analyze, diagnose, and evaluate damaged vehicles to determine repair or service needs.
• Identify opportunities to upsell and address DOT inspections as needed.
• Accurately estimate costs for repairs, maintenance and service.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical/electrical issues in vehicles to meet safety standards.
• Perform light-to-heavy maintenance and repair work as required.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and performance.
• Maintain communication with dispatch and production teams to keep schedules.
• Assist other technicians on difficult repairs and diagnose complex problems.
• Ensure repairs meet manufacturers’ specifications and use service manuals.

Davey Coach Sales is the nation-wide leader in van and bus sales. We have an immediate opening for a Diagnostic Bus Technician in our ever growing office in Norwalk, CA. You will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing the mechanical and electrical damage of vehicles while ensuring safety and quality to ensure timely delivery of repaired vehicles. Additional responsibilities include performing light-heavy maintenance and service work.

Your responsibilities would include

• Analyze, diagnose, and evaluate damaged vehicles to determine repair or service needs and potential replacement of parts.
• Identify any opportunity to upsell to the customer; addressing DOT inspections where necessary.
• Responsible for the maintenance of shop vehicles.
• Responsible for assisting other Technicians on the diagnosis of difficult or abnormal repairs or services.
• Accurately estimate costs for repairs, maintenance and service required.
• Perform advanced, basic and minor repairs as required – brake and hydraulic, exhaust, engine and transmission, fuel ignition, electrical, suspension and alignment, restraints and airbags, wheelchair lifts, air conditioning and computer systems.
• Inspects and tests all mechanical repairs to meet manufacturers’ specifications. Road test vehicles when required.
• Maintain regular communication with the dispatcher to ensure all requests for appointments are handled.
• Communicate with production team to keep all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery.

You will need to have

• High School diploma/GED required. Auto mechanic vocational graduate preferred.
• 2+ years of automobile or automotive mechanical/electrical diagnosis, problem solving and repair experience in related industry preferred.
• ASE certification
• Must have a large selection of tools to do most jobs.
• Experience diagnosing problems – mechanical, repairing, rebuilding and overhauling mechanical, electrical, electronic and/or hydraulic systems in a wide variety of automotive vehicles.
• Knowledge using manufacturers’ service and repair manuals.
• Highly organized, able to prioritize multiple concurrent assignments.
