Job summary

Redeemer East Side in New York City seeks a part-time Diaconate Coordinator to manage the Diaconate's operations and lead the Mercy Fund in service of the local community.

The role supports care for neighbors, coordinates trainings, meetings, and resources, and works with the Diaconate Board to strengthen compassionate outreach. Flexible evenings/weekends and a strong faith alignment are expected.

Qualifications

• Diaconate experience is required and applicant should desire spiritual growth.
• Must be a regular attend-er of Redeemer East Side Sunday service.
• Minimum four years of college required.
• Social work or case management experience required; seminary degree preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills; teamwork and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Manage operational needs of the Diaconate and Mercy Fund.
• Oversee client care plans and possible direct client care in exceptional cases.
• Handle all administrative aspects including training, records, and recruitment processes for deacons and elders.
• Coordinate monthly Diaconate meetings and support events, some evenings/weekends.
• Foster a caring culture and ensure resources reach clients.
• Attend Diaconate Board meetings.
