Job summary

UP Health System Marquette is seeking a Diabetes Educator to support patients with education and care coordination. This 0.7 FTE position offers 56 hours per pay period across 7 eight-hour shifts, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Ideal candidates hold an RN or Dietetics degree with BLS-HCP and have a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) credential within 2 years of hire. Join Lifepoint Health’s mission to improve community health.

Responsibilities

• Independently writes, communicates, and implements teaching interventions for patients and families.
• Delivers education to pediatric inpatients and outpatients in group and individual sessions.
• Delivers education tailored to growth and development for outpatients.
• Assists to maintain diabetes supplies.
• Provides back up and assists other staff as needed.

How you'll contribute

A Diabetes Educator who excels in this role:

• Independently writes, communicates, and implements teaching interventions for patients, families, significant others.
• Delivers educational material using teaching principals and a variety of formats for new pediatric inpatients and outpatients in group and individual sessions.
• Delivers educational material appropriate for identified needs utilizing knowledge of growth and development for outpatients in group and individual sessions.
• Assists to maintain diabetes supplies.
• Provides back up and assists other staff, as necessary.

What we're looking for

• Minimum Education Associate's Degree in Nursing OR Bachelor's degree in Dietetics
• *Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP);
• Registered Dietitian Certification OR Registered Nurse (RN);
• Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) (within 2 years of hire)
