Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) seeks a Deaf & Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team in Georgia. You will develop and implement IEPs, collaborate with staff and families, and create a positive learning environment for students with hearing needs.

Qualifications

  • A valid Georgia teaching certificate in a qualifying Special Education field (typically Special Education P–12 or Special Education General Curriculum/Early Childhood Education), at a Level 4 or higher.
  • Special Education Visual Impairment Endorsement issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each of the students in your care
  • Communicate with other staff and family members about each student's progress and struggles
  • Prepare detailed lesson plans and submit them to administrators for approval
  • Participate in IEP meetings as scheduled by the school
  • Use individualized reinforcement techniques to keep each student on the path toward greatness
  • Invite family members to participate in each student's educational progress
  • Create and distribute progress reports quarterly
  • Confer with on-site therapist over disciplinary and behavioral issues with students
  • Create a safe, productive classroom environment

Education

Georgia teaching certificate in Special Education (Level 4 or higher)
Special Education Visual Impairment Endorsement (GaPSC)

Special Education Teacher Qualifications:
