Job summary

Point Quest is seeking an Educational Sign Language Interpreter to provide real-time interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students across K-12 settings in Green Bay, WI.

You will work with teachers, the special education team, and families to ensure access to instruction using ASL, Signed Exact English, or related modalities. DPI licensure, EIPA, and an accredited interpreter training program are required.

Qualifications

  • Requires Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Educational Interpreter License eligibility.
  • EIPA score meeting DPI requirements.
  • Completion of an accredited Interpreter Training Program.
  • Associates Degree – Child Development or related field.
  • Background check or fingerprint clearance.
  • Preferred RID certification (NIC, CI/CT or equivalent).
  • Preferred Wisconsin BEI certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, real-time interpretation for students in classrooms, groups, and events.
  • Adapt communication methods to match each student’s needs and IEP accommodations.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure accessible content.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethics and standards of practice.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute on communication access and progress.
  • Review materials in advance to prepare for interpretation.

Working across K-12 settings, you'll interpret instruction, discussions, and activities between spoken English and sign, using ASL, Signing Exact English, or the modality that best fits each student, so they can participate fully alongside their peers. You'll partner closely with teachers, the special education team, and families to make sure communication is seamless throughout the school day.
