Job summary

AppLab Systems, Inc. seeks an experienced senior developer with 10+ years of hands-on work in Basis International languages Progression/5 (BBx/Pro/5) and BBj.

The role focuses on building features and system integrations, not GUI work, leveraging existing Pro/5 assets and BBj interfaces. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong SQL Server skills, ability to learn a custom code base, and work within a formal SDLC.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of development experience with Basis International languages Progression/5 (BBx/Pro/5) and BBj.

Responsibilities

• Develop features and integrations for Pro/5-based systems and BBj implementations.
• Work with teams to learn and navigate a custom code base within an SDLC environment.
• Create and troubleshoot SQL queries using Microsoft SQL Server to support debugging.

Job description

1. 10+ years recent development experience specifically with the Basis International languages of Progression/5 (BBx, Pro/5) and Business Basic for Java (BBj)
   • A. Recent: They are actively developing these technologies and have been for 10+ years
   • B. Development experience means 80% of time actively adding new features/capabilities vs break fix or small enhancements from production support issues
   • C. Current usage of BBj is to support integrations not graphical user interfaces
2. Experience with Integrations in/out a Pro/5 system (ie: http, XML, RPC)
3. Demonstrated experience with learning a custom code base they didn't develop
4. Experience developing based on specifications developed by others and working in a formal SDLC environment
5. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and creating SQL queries to assist with troubleshooting

Optional/Plus

1. 1. (Plus) Experience in Hospitality / Vacation Ownership industry
2. 2. (Plus) Development experience with both Progression/5 and BBj enabling system-to-system integrations.
3. 3. (Plus) Unix/Linux shell scripting experience
4. 4. (Optional) Experience with other Business Basic variants such as Thoroughbred BASIC, ProvideX (now PxPlus), MAI OpenBasic.
5. 5. (Optional) Experience using external logging platforms for troubleshooting - Splunk / Dynatrace Caveat

1. Individuals with prior MVW, Vistana, and Starwood Vacation Ownership experience should be vetted with MVW early in the consideration cycle.
