Reports to: Assistant General Manager - DFW Maintenance Division

Department: DFW Maintenance - Service Leadership

About LAZ/ECO at DFW:

EcoFleet is a leading fleet management company specializing in commercial and airport fleet operations, providing maintenance, leasing, washing, and fueling services nationwide. In joint venture with LAZ Parking, EcoFleet operates the stand-alone maintenance division supporting the consolidated bussing services contract at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) - a fleet of approximately 195 transit buses, cutaways, and support vehicles across CNG, diesel, gasoline, and EV platforms. We are not just offering a job; we are offering a career path with a company that invests in its employees and is growing nationally.

Position description:

The lead technician is the working leader of a maintenance shift: assigning work, checking quality, clearing roadblocks, and turning wrenches on the hardest jobs. Lead technicians own their shift’s PM compliance, down-bus count, and safety performance, and are the first step on the LAZ/EcoFleet management fast track.

General Responsibilities
  • Plan and assign shift workload from the Fleetio queue; balance PM production against corrective repairs and pull-out requirements.
  • Perform and oversee advanced diagnostics and quality-check completed repairs before buses return to service.
  • Own shift KPIs: PM compliance, down/up bus ratio, comeback rate, and safety; report status at shift turnover.
  • Coach and develop technicians; conduct on-the-job training and safety observations.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and operations for bus swaps, road calls, and priority units.
  • Enforce safety protocols including lockout/tagout and HV procedures; maintain shop condition and equipment readiness.
Qualifications
  • A-level technical qualifications (see Senior Technician) plus demonstrated leadership of technician teams.
  • ASE Master (H or T series) preferred; CNG and EV credentials strongly preferred.
  • Class B CDL with passenger endorsement (or ability to obtain within 90 days - company paid).
  • Working knowledge of VMS systems (Fleetio preferred) and Microsoft Office; clear written and verbal communication.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license; must pass a federal background check and DFW airport badging requirements.
Education And Experience
  • 7+ years of fleet/transit maintenance experience including 1+ year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical degree a plus.
