Job description

Job Summary $10,000 sign on bonus for eligible applicants! This posting reflects an opening for a X-ray Technologist I, and we are seeking candidates for that position. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role, including X-ray Technologist II, based on their skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

Radiologic Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures and analyze data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Radiologic Technologists independently perform or assist licensed practitioners in completing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. They also prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or institutional policies.

Job Duties
  1. Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  2. Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety, care, and applying ALARA principles.
  3. Prepare and/or administer medications through vascular access sites as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  4. Evaluate images for proper positioning and technical quality; verify archival storage and transfer of data, and post-process data if applicable.
  5. Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.
  6. Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
  7. Perform diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed, including outside the Radiology Department (e.g., Operating Room, Endoscopy, ICU).

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The role requires satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with organizational policies and procedures. Additional department-specific competencies and skills will be considered essential for successful performance.

Position Details
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.
Education

Graduate from Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (Required).

Experience & Certification

Certified Radiology Technologist within 24 months - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
