Job description

Job Summary $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants! This posting reflects an opening for a X-ray Technologist I, and we are seeking candidates for that position. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role, including X-ray Technologist II, based on their skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

Radiologic Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures and acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis at the request of, and for interpretation by, a licensed practitioner. They independently perform or assist licensed practitioners in completing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Radiologic Technologists prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policies.

Job Duties
  1. Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  2. Utilize appropriate imaging protocols and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  3. Prepare and/or administer medications through vascular access sites as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  4. Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality, verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, and perform post-processing if applicable.
  5. Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.
  6. Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
  7. Perform diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, including outside of the Radiology Department (e.g., Operating Room, Endoscopy, ICU).

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The employee is accountable for satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with all organizational policies and procedures. Additional competencies outlined in department-specific orientation will be considered essential.

Position Details
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.
Education

Graduate from Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (Required).

Experience & Certification

Certified Radiology Technologist within 24 months - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
