The Dewey Plant - Chemical Operator position at Milliken and Company is located in Inman, SC. The role reports to a production manager and supports chemical manufacturing processes.

Entry-level associates rotate on a 12-hour shift (first-third rotation) and will learn basic chemical and material handling skills. The successful candidate will work safely in a chemical environment, perform batch pours, operate process computers, and participate in plant safety programs while pursuing multiple job

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to climb multiple steps, lift 50 pounds regularly, pass medical clearance and wear a full-face respirator.
  • Computer experience with Windows-based software.

Responsibilities

  • Operation of a forklift.
  • Operates process computer to manufacture batches.
  • Complete pour up of chemicals with directions.
  • Fill/Bag product up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic chemical blends.
  • Performs physical/chemical testing in local monitoring station as required during chemical processing.
  • Fills out necessary batchsheets, computer sheets, records, logs, and charts.
  • Actively participates in plant safety program/process.
  • Lifting various raw materials.
  • Manhandling drums less than 50 pounds.
  • Actively contributes to process improvement and innovation.
  • Attends & actively participates in all process meetings, Daily Team Maintenance Meetings, etc.
  • Responsible for shutdown of equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Performs other assignments as required by the production manager.

POSITION TITLE

Dewey Plant - Chemical Operator

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is located at the Milliken Dewey Plant located in Inman, SC, and reports to a production manager.A Chemical Operator is a key role in the chemical manufacturing processes. Qualified Chemical Operators will be able to work safely as a team in a Chemical Manufacturing Environment, learn chemical processing and obtain multiple job certifications to progress to top pay. Entry level associates will be expected to rotate on a 12-hour shift, first-third rotation and will be expected to learn basic chemical and material handling skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operation of a forklift.
  • Operates process computer to manufacture batches.
  • Complete pour up of chemicals with directions.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to climb multiple steps, lift 50 pounds on a regular basis, pass medical clearance and wear a full-face respirator.
  • Computer experience, windows-based software.
QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED
  • High level of computer skills.
  • Prior experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment.
  • SAP experience.

  • Self-direction and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.

Chemical Operator: ability to perform mathematical calculations, ability to comprehend and read written/verbal instructions

Equipment used: fork lift, pallet jack, drum trucks, computer, chemical hoses

Physical Requirements: 100% visual acuity, 50% standing, 25% sitting, 25% moving, 20% bending/stooping, 10% climbing stairs/ladders, 15% push/pull, 15% lifting (up to 60 pounds), manhandle up to 100 pound drums, 10% reaching (must be able to lay over drums weighing up to 500 pounds with assistance,

Safety Equipment Required: safety glasses, safety goggles, steel toe shoes, rain suit, full face respirator, rubber boots, hard hat
