POSITION OVERVIEW

TheChemical Operatoris responsible forthe set up and operation of production equipment in their assigned production area used to produce microencapsulated products in a safe and efficient manner. The roleutilizesboth automated and manual systems to add raw materials,initiateand monitor the process to transform the raw materials into finished product. Several actions require manual operator actions that include obtaining samples for testing, manual material additions, and documentation of critical process steps.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Safe handling of equipment and materials understanding the hazards and properutilizationof PPE

Maintain on time production schedule by coordinating daily activities

Accurate andtimelyin completion of tasks and documentation

Effective communication with team members and management

Work overtime to cover vacancies/vacations and meet Customer requirements, including weekends

Promote teamwork byassistingotherwhere and when needed

Train new or less experienced team members

Cross train to other processes and positions for business continuity and flexibility

Operateequipmentin accordance withSOP’s

Observe, adjust, andmonitorequipment to ensure safety, quality, and efficient operation

Complete manual operations as required by the process

Document process critical datatimelyand accurately

Issue materials and complete orders inDeacom

Maintain 5S standards

Participate in continuous improvement efforts

Perform basic care, housekeeping and maintenance of equipment and work area

Communicate operational needs within team and with management

Attend all plant meetings and complete alltrainingson time

Carry outadditionalduties as assigned

Ability to occasionally push, pull and carry up to50 pounds

Ability to wear a respirator as required by the task being performed or chemical safety data sheets.

Work safely around and appropriately handle hazardous chemicals around plant.

SAFETY – Adhere to all plant safety policies and compliance regulations. Activelyparticipatein the safety process throughcompleting ofsafety audits,participatingin safety projects,identifyingSiteHazardsand contributing to safety improvements, and being an attending member of a safety team. Complete annual safety training asrequired.
QUALITY – Become familiar with,understandandcomply withMilliken Quality Policy, Standard Operating Procedure(s) (SOPs), relevant ISO 9000standardsand Company Policies thatare applicableto this position.
RESPONSIBLE CARE:

a. Be aware of the relevant requirements of the Responsible Care Management System (RC-14001) and follow plant procedures to ensure compliancetorequirements.

b. Understand the RC-14001 Significant Aspects of your job and help ensure controls are in place to reduce oreliminatenegative impacts.

c. Take actions andidentifyand communicate ideas to minimize waste, preventpollutionand conserve energy.

HAZARDOUS WASTE HANDLING - All associates who handle hazardous waste shall be given an overview of the regulations and company policiesregardingthe management of hazardous waste. The hazardous waste handlers shall receive detailed instruction on the proper handling, collecting, labeling, and transporting of hazardous waste as outlined in RCRA and OSHA regulations. Instructions shall also include whom to notify in case of a spill and proper procedures for spill response. Educational requirements include the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Instructions on handling hazardous waste shall come from the hazardous waste manager orappropriate designee.

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, SAFETY & SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand the relevant requirements of the Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) and RC-14001 certification.

Understand the importance of conformancetotheEnvironmental, Safety and Responsible Care Policies, procedures, and the requirements of theRCMS.

Understand thesignificantenvironmental impacts associated with their work activitiesand help ensurecontrols are in place to reduce oreliminatenegative impacts.

Understand the potential consequences of deviation from specified operating procedures.

Immediately report any accidents and releases per thecompanyescalation protocol.

Comply withall environmental,health,safety,and securityrules;Environmental, Safety, and Responsible Care policiesand programsestablishedby the company to the extent of training received.

Recognize that adhering to job responsibilities and proceduresregardingenvironmental, safety,security,and health is a condition of employment.

Contributeto continuous improvement of the plant environmental, health, safety, security, and Responsible Care performance and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
