Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a software engineer to design, integrate, troubleshoot, test, deliver and update software across languages, documenting architectures and processes to sustain end items. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, workflows, and develop front- and back-end features.

The role requires hands-on experience with Git, C++, Python, Java or JavaScript, containers, SQL databases, Linux, React, and cloud/DevSecOps practices, plus the ability to travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering/science discipline (or equivalent full-time experience).
• 3+ years experience with version control (Git or similar).
• Proficiency in C++, Python, Java or JavaScript.
• Container concepts including Docker/OCI/Podman, registries.
• SQL and relational databases (Postgres).
• Linux command-line usage and file/system permissions.
• React or a modern frontend framework.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
• 1+ year frontend development experience.
• Experience with DEVSECOPS to streamline software testing and deployment.
• Experience with cloud, virtualization (VMware) and containerization.
• Experience with networking concepts and APIs.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design, integrate, troubleshoot, test, deliver and update software across languages, documenting architectures and processes to sustain end items.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, workflows, and develop front- and back-end features and architecture.
• Adhere to DoD and industry security, reliability, and performance standards.
• Participate in peer reviews, configuration, design, and performance reviews.
• Apply containerization and cloud deployment practices and integrate third-party software into Kubernetes environments.
• Assist with containerization, configuration management and customization of vendor/open-source software.
