Job Description

GIESLER LLC is looking to hire a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to join our distributed operations team, developing modular cloud technologies, optimized infrastructure, and adaptable CI/CD pipelines to enable viable remoting services in distributed environments for the Department of Defense. This role requires a deep understanding of Kubernetes, CI/CD tools, distributed cloud and on-prem technologies to ensure high quality software, dynamic data availability with integrity, to deliver on demand capability to our nation’s warfighters.

This role is in support of the U.S. Navy Spectral Program. Spectral is a seven-year program to provide both hardware and software solutions for our naval forces to fight and win in the increasingly sophisticated and complex range of cyber and electronic threats from our adversaries.

You will develop and deploy advanced cloud enabled combat systems that make up Spectral, leveraging the most advanced DevSecOps technologies available. Spectral is not only delivering ground-breaking capabilities to the warfighter today, but also building a modular distributed architecture that allows the system to rapidly evolve, deploy, and adapt to scale multi-echelon operations.

Creative solutioning and thinking outside the box to solve manual pain points for the warfighter through innovative engineering and rapid deployment of software running in production. Developing software technologies and leveraging first class tooling to generate high availability, low latency, fault tolerance, and scalability across multi-echelon distributed environments. As a Senior DevSecOps Engineer collaborate closely across Integrated Product Teams to optimize deployment pipelines, leverage automated infrastructure as code, and enhance the overall performance and reliability of the distributed Spectral system.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deploy highly available and scalable infrastructure as code across distributed cloud and on-prem data centers.
  • Deploy distributed databases and message queues technologies like Kafka, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.
  • Automation and repeatable CI/CD for distributed environments.
  • Zero-downtime strategy employment for blue-green type deployments in distributed environment.
  • Continuous authority to field CI/CD pipeline technologies to support distributed application deployment.
  • Infrastructure as code provisioning for operating in distributed environments with leveraging tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible, Helm charts to reduce downtime.
  • Implement health and status remoting capabilities across distributed environments.
  • Enable optimized networking solutions in distributed environments using VPNs, VPC peering, and service mesh technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with data dissemination for distributed systems like JICD.
  • Knowledgeable in employing best security and encryption practices and tools for scaled distributed systems.
  • Implement chaos engineering practices to continuously improve fault tolerance across distributed environments.
  • Employ modular container orchestration across distributed impact levels and environments.
  • Deploy air gap technologies for distributed environments at multiple impact levels.
  • Knowledge in implementing and leveraging automated cross domain solutions to enable continuous authority to field software packages in distributed environments.
  • Facilitate cross team communications, mentorship, and provide senior level guidance in software application designs.
Job Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An Active Top Secret Clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance
  • 5+ year of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Software Engineering or related fields
  • Strong knowledge of scripting and programming languages (Python, Java, Bash, Go)
  • Software development experience with infrastructure configuration management and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes) in distributed environments
  • Strong background in Linux administration (RedHat and CentOS), microservices, and distributed cloud deployments
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, System Engineering or a related field
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and AWS certifications
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using Ansible, Puppet, Chef or an equivalent.
  • Experience managing CI/CD toolchains (Certified Jenkins Engineer, Gitlab)
  • Experience with container automation and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
  • Hashicorp certified Terraform Associate
  • Familiarity with security methodologies and tools (SonarQube, etc.)
  • Experience in scripting and programming automation (Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Knowledge of microservice architectures and serverless computing security
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and communication skills
  • Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, AWS Certified Security, etc.)
Pay Range

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.

Since this position can be worked in more than one location, the range shown is the national average for the position. The proposed salary range for this position is: $89,500-$188,000
