Job summary

BryceTech is hiring a DevSecOps Engineer to design, deploy, and support secure containerized systems for mission-critical environments. You will build and maintain secure pipelines, automate IaC, and work closely with software, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams.

The role may require after-hours support during exercises or live events, with on-site work at our Suffolk, VA facility. A DoD-style mindset and strong collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Active DoW Secret clearance or above required.
• 6+ years of system/DevOps/DevSecOps experience including cross-team collaboration.
• Experience with Kotlin, Kafka, containers and CI/CD pipelines.

Job Description

BryceTech is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to design, develop, and support integration solutions for mission-critical systems operating in distributed, time-sensitive environments. This role supports the design, deployment, security, and operation of containerized microservices, secure system integration and operational support during live and simulated events. Focus will be on integration engineering, API integration and traffic management, and operational readiness within existing platform environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate mission needs, technical direction, integration guides, requirement documents and operational feedback into actionable engineering work. This includes identifying technical tasks, dependencies, acceptance criteria, interfaces, risks, and recommended implementation approaches.
• Design, implement, and sustain secure DevSecOps pipelines and environments, including GitLab source control, CI/CD, issue tracking, and backlog management.
• Develop, modify, review and troubleshoot automation, infrastructure-as-code, scripts, configuration artifacts, and application code needed to support software delivery, system integration, data exchange, and operational readiness. Support deployments and updates across development, test, and production environments.
• Collaborate with software, platform, cybersecurity, programmatic, and infrastructure teams to ensure secure, compliant, and useful system integration.
• Support live or simulated exercises (e.g., JLVC) by providing technical expertise and troubleshooting, particularly during time-sensitive operational events and exercises. Work may be required outside normal working hours during events to ensure mission requirements are met.
• Produce technical documentation, integration diagrams, and after-action reports as required. Build and maintain GitLab workflow and engineering execution visibility by structuring epics, issues, milestones, board, branching strategies, merge-request standards, and release evidence.
• Provide clear technical status, blockers, risks, and decision recommendations to program leadership and integrated product teams.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Active DoW Secret clearance or above
• 6+ years of experience in system engineering, software engineering, integration engineering, DevOps, or DevSecOps - clear experience in building processes alongside other teams will be considered heavily favorable.
• Hands-on experience with Kotlin (operations, deployment, troubleshooting)
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, or similar high throughput publish/subscribe messaging system
• Strong understanding of event-driven system architectures
• Ability to troubleshoot complex integration and data-flow issues in operational environments
• Role will require on-site or after-hours support during scheduled exercises or mission events

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience packaging and deploying applications using Docker or equivalent container technologies
• Familiarity with Helm charts within containerized environments
• Experience with Git-based version control and GitLab CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Kraken or similar data processing / integration frameworks
• Prior support to DoD simulations, wargames, or operational test events
