About the Role
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role at the intersection of systems design, cloud infrastructure, and automation. You will build and maintain the AWS environments and deployment pipelines the mission runs on, write the code that automates them, and raise the engineering standard of the team around you.
The role carries real technical ownership. You will be trusted to make design decisions, resolve production issues without supervision, and mentor engineers earlier in their careers.
What You Will Do
- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS, and troubleshoot implementation issues across the environment.
- Engineer and support Linux-based systems, including resolving software defects and contributing to software development.
- Build and deploy infrastructure using configuration management and automation tooling.
- Manage code and configuration through GitHub and other source control systems.
- Work within Agile delivery practices, contributing to continuous improvement of team processes.
- Apply security standards and organizational requirements rigorously across everything you build.
- Mentor and train other engineers, and help strengthen how the team works.
Required Qualifications
- 11+ years of experience in systems design and engineering.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science or computer engineering. [Confirm whether this is a firm requirement or whether additional experience may substitute — many strong candidates at this level came up without a CS degree.]
- Hands-on experience building in and troubleshooting AWS environments.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve Linux software issues, and to contribute to software development.
- DevOps practice. Demonstrated success as a DevOps systems engineer and technical administrator.
- Source control. GitHub and comparable source control systems.
- Agile delivery and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Security discipline. Strict adherence to security standards and organizational requirements.
- Willingness to train and develop other engineers.
