Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a DevOps/Platform Engineer for its Lansing, MI location. The role focuses on developing and supporting software infrastructure, deploying automation, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines across SDLC.

You’ll collaborate with software engineers, system admins, and security engineers to ensure reliability and security. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Linux Jenkins, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and related tools, with a background in Java or Groovy development preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or another related degree is required.
• Candidates without a four-year degree, but with several years of relevant experience, may also be considered.
• Must be able to learn and effectively use tools and development techniques as practiced, acquired, or adopted within the IT Division.
• Object-oriented development experience (Java, Groovy) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Experience with CI/CD across SDLC and knowledge of automation and scripting tools, source code management, containerization, and databases.
• Collaborate with software engineers, system administrators, database administrators, security engineers, and test automation engineers to deliver and operate solutions.
• Manage Linux-based Jenkins servers and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Groovy) that integrate with Bitbucket, OpenShift, and Maven/NPM.
• Configure and monitor Kubernetes (OpenShift) namespaces; work with Helm and Argo; maintain Kafka in Kubernetes; manage Tekton-based pipelines.
• Operate Windows servers with IIS, PowerShell, and Active Directory; monitor systems with Instana, Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Identify performance issues and suggest optimizations; diagnose database-related issues; monitor availability and capacity.

Description

Responsibilities include:

development and support of software application infrastructure for new or existing systems, including but not limited to application deployment automation, repository maintenance, application security, scripting, performance monitoring, and third-party software administration. The ideal candidate would have experience with object-oriented software development, experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) across various Software Development Life Cycles (SDLC), knowledge of automation and scripting tools, source code management tools, containerization software, and databases. This position works directly with many key internal stakeholders such as software engineers, system administrators, database administrators, security engineers, and test automation engineers.

Knowledge of IT Infrastructure technologies and experience as it relates to the items below would be desired:

• Manage Linux based Jenkins servers
• Maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines (written in Groovy) that integrate with Bitbucket, OpenShift, and build tools such as Maven and NPM
• Configure and monitor Kubernetes (OpenShift) namespaces and work with tools such as Helm and Argo
• Maintain a Kafka installation running in Kubernetes (OpenShift)
• Maintain Tekton (OpenShift Pipelines) based CI/CD pipelines
• Manage Windows virtual servers running third-party software and work with IIS, PowerShell and Active Directory
• Monitor servers and applications using tools such as Instana, Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana
• Diagnose and troubleshoot databaserelated issues
• Monitor systems availability and capacity
• Identify performance issues and provide suggestions for optimization

Desired Skills & Experience

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
