Job summary

Sunbird Software in Raleigh, NC seeks a DevOps and Infrastructure Engineer to maintain and evolve our on-prem and cloud infrastructure. Qualifications

• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Shell, Ruby, Perl, or Python scripting for server configuration and automation.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Solid system administration and networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, routing).
• Experience using AI-assisted tools to improve productivity and operations.
• Ability to manage Cisco firewalls and configure/maintain VPNs.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, monitor, and improve on-premises infrastructure including compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and containers.
• Manage backup and disaster recovery for critical systems and applications.
• Apply OS, hypervisor, firmware, and application patches to keep systems secure.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Deploy and maintain VMs across VMware, Linux KVM, Azure, and AWS.
• Support IAM systems (SAML, LDAP, Active Directory) integrations.
• Handle network and systems admin tasks (DNS, VPN, firewall, SSL).
• Evaluate infrastructure improvements and tooling to boost reliability and scalability.
• Automate routine tasks with scripting and infrastructure tools.
• Collaborate with software teams to improve deployment processes and observability.
• Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure and recovery procedures.
• Maintain Perl, Ruby, and Shell scripts for deployment and HA.
