Job summary

AIS is seeking a DevOps Engineer II within the Trusted Systems team to support engineering platforms and microservices across multiple DoD customers. You will develop infrastructure, automate tasks, and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, while aligning with DevSecOps practices.

The role requires a BS in CS/Systems Engineering or related field with 2 years of experience (or equivalent). You’ll work with Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, and scripting to enable secure, scalable deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field and 2 years’ experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with automation tools and solid understanding of Linux.
• Comfortable using version control and configuration management tools such as Git or SVN.
• Experience deploying and managing containerized applications in Kubernetes clusters and custom manifests.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
• General understanding of DevSecOps principles and the secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDL).
• Experience with: configuring and managing Linux based resources; automated infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines using Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar tools; virtualization platforms; ability to understand highly technical software systems; DoD environment knowledge; troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Develop infrastructure, task automation, and provision managed services using Ansible and scripting languages.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines to automate building, testing, and deploying code with GitLab.
• Install, configure, and support container orchestration engines like Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker Swarm.
• Manage Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with software and test teams to integrate capabilities.
• Stay updated on cybersecurity threats and contribute to internal R&D efforts.
• Maintain and update documentation for systems builds.
