Job summary

MerchantE seeks an experienced DevOps Engineer II to design, build, automate, and support cloud infrastructure across a global environment. You will work hands-on with AWS, IaC and CI/CD, partnering with senior engineers on platform architecture and strategy.

You will collaborate with development, security, and infra teams to ensure high availability, observability, and efficient operations, including AI-enabled tooling and automation.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Build, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available AWS infrastructure.
  • Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and Infrastructure as Code solutions.
  • Manage and optimize Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
  • Support AWS networking configurations, including VPCs, routing, VPNs, security groups, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, reliability, and security; resolve complex operational issues.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Apply AI-enabled operational tools and automation to improve monitoring, incident triage, troubleshooting, documentation, and platform reliability.
  • Support the evaluation and adoption of AWS AI services or other AI-assisted capabilities that improve engineering efficiency and operational outcomes.
  • Support payment systems and business-critical services with a focus on uptime and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Security, and Product teams to improve platform capabilities and deployment processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute technical recommendations and help guide less-experienced team members as needed.

We are looking for DevOps Engineers II who are passionate about their work and embraces the ideals of the software craftsmanship movement and Agile development practices. Self-motivated engineer who can take the initiative and work effectively both independently and as part of a scrum team of engineers.

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on DevOps Engineer II to design, build, automate, and support cloud infrastructure and platform services across a global environment. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who can work independently on complex infrastructure initiatives while partnering with senior engineers on broader platform architecture and strategy.

The DevOps Engineer II will collaborate with development, security, and infrastructure teams to build scalable AWS environments, improve deployment processes, and support high availability for critical business systems, including payment platforms. The role will also use AI-enabled tools and automation to improve operational efficiency, observability, incident response, and platform reliability.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Build, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available AWS infrastructure.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration platforms.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, routing, load balancing, VPNs, and cloud networking.
  • Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
  • Experience monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering or operational tools and their use in automation, monitoring, troubleshooting, or incident response.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting payment systems, fintech platforms, or highly transactional applications.
  • Familiarity with PCI, SOC, or other compliance frameworks.
  • Exposure to globally distributed systems and high-availability architectures.
  • Experience scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Experience using AI-powered tools, automation, or AWS AI services to improve DevOps workflows, observability, incident response, or infrastructure operations.
  • Experience contributing to technical projects or informally mentoring junior engineers.
