Delta Dental of New Jersey seeks a Junior DevOps Engineer to support applications, assist with releases, and contribute to monitoring and automation. The role emphasizes incident response, scripting, and cloud-based maintenance, with on‑call responsibilities and cross‑team collaboration.

The position requires a basic IT background, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and a proactive, service‑oriented approach to supporting internal partners.

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of information technology, software development, systems, networking, databases, APIs, cloud concepts, or a related technical area.
• Interest in troubleshooting applications and understanding how technology works together.
• Ability to investigate problems methodically, document findings, and recognize when assistance or escalation is needed.
• Clear communication, thoughtful documentation, attention to detail, and dependable follow‑through.

Responsibilities

• Monitor incoming support tickets and system alerts, troubleshoot issues, document findings, and coordinate next steps.
• Support the applications used across Delta Dental and help move issues toward timely resolution.
• Contribute to incident triage and root‑cause analysis by gathering information and testing potential causes.
• Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule after onboarding.
• Assist with software releases and deployments using Azure DevOps and established release‑management practices.
• Monitor assigned deployments, communicate status, and help address or escalate unexpected results.
• Write or update scripts and automations to reduce repetitive work and improve consistency.
• Build experience with cloud services, APIs, and infrastructure maintenance.
• Maintain runbooks, knowledge articles, ticket notes, and deployment records.
• Partner with DevOps, development, product, security, network, and support teams.
