Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer for a rapidly growing SaaS provider in Welkom. The role focuses on enhancing cloud infrastructure, automating processes, and ensuring reliability across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

You will bridge software development and IT operations, building CI/CD pipelines, managing IaC, and securing cloud environments in a hybrid work setup that supports the Free State region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in a DevOps or Systems Engineering role.
• Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of networking, security, and system administration.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication; able to work in a hybrid model.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing SaaS provider in Welkom , is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to enhance their cloud infrastructure and drive automation initiatives. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our client's cutting-edge platform. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between software development and IT operations, implementing best practices in continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure management. This hybrid position offers a dynamic work environment, blending on-site collaboration with the flexibility to work remotely, supporting operations in the Free State .

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure on platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software build, test, and deployment processes.
• Implement and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively resolve issues.
• Ensure the security and compliance of cloud environments.
• Automate operational tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Collaborate with development and QA teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Manage containerization platforms like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a DevOps or Systems Engineering role.
• Proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and system administration.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work model.
