Job summary

Base-2 Solutions seeks a DevOps Engineer to support modernization and deployment of a government information system. You will work with GitLab CI/CD, Nexus, and Solr clusters while migrating from on-premises VMware to AWS.

Strong Windows Server and AWS IaC experience are essential for this critical role. The ideal candidate will implement containerization strategies for Java apps, enforce security controls, and manage artifacts and infrastructure across development, staging, and production

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
• Experience managing Nexus Repository for artifacts and dependencies.
• Proven ability to build and maintain Solr clusters with ZooKeeper in production.
• Strong Windows Server administration and on-premises infrastructure management.
• Extensive AWS experience including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, and CloudFormation/Terraform.
• Infrastructure-as-code practices across multi-environment deployments.
• Knowledge of containerization strategies for Java applications.
• Experience applying security controls in VMware and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
• Automate deployment processes across development, staging, and production environments.
• Manage Nexus Repository for artifact storage and dependency management.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions using CloudFormation and/or Terraform.
• Build and maintain Apache Solr clusters with ZooKeeper in production environments.
• Administer Windows Server environments and orchestrate infrastructure upgrades.
• Plan and execute migration strategies from on-premises VMware to AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Configure and manage AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, and related components.
• Develop containerization strategies for Java applications.
• Implement configuration management tools and practices.
• Apply security controls in both on-premises VMware and AWS cloud environments.
• Monitor system performance and implement optimization strategies.
