Job summary

Wyetech, LLC is seeking a Software Architect to own the design, delivery, and evolution of our AWS infrastructure and services for federal contracts. You will blend deep AWS expertise with hands-on Java and Python development, mentoring junior engineers and driving architectural best practices.

Responsibilities include end-to-end architecture, IaC, data pipelines, observability, and CI/CD. A TS/SCI with poly is required; a $5k bonus applies along with SEP IRA contributions.

Qualifications

• TS/SCI with agency appropriate poly.
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience/education.
• 12 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree +10 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end, scalable, secure AWS architectures for event-driven services and data pipelines.
• Write production Java (Spring Boot) and Python (Lambdas) services and mentor junior engineers.
• Define and maintain IaC for reproducible deployments across the stack.
• Architect and implement data/messaging layers with DynamoDB, OpenSearch, SQS, SNS.
• Establish observability with CloudWatch, monitoring, logging and alerts.
• Lead CI/CD and DevSecOps practices; GitLab pipelines and canary deployments.
• Mentor 2-4 junior developers; perform code reviews and architecture deep dives.
• Communicate complex technical details to leadership and stakeholders.
• Create up-to-date documentation and runbooks for operations.

Software Architect who will own the design, delivery, and evolution of our AWS infrastructure and associated application services. The ideal candidate blends deep AWS expertise (Lambda, OpenSearch, DynamoDB, SQS, CloudWatch, etc.) with hands on Java and Python development skills and can mentor a small team of junior engineers while driving architectural best practices across the program.

Analyze, design, verify, validate, implement, apply, and maintain software systems. Appropriately apply discrete mathematics, probability and statistics, and other relevant topics in computer science and supporting disciplines to complex software systems. Generalize techniques, as appropriate, to apply to multiple domains. Develop and provide appropriate documentation and training. Present briefings and demonstrations to stakeholders

Capabilties

• Design & Blueprint – Create end to end, scalable, secure, and cost optimized architectures for event driven services, data pipelines, and search solutions on AWS.
• Hands On Development – Write production grade Java (Spring Boot) and Python (Lambdas) services that run as AWS Lambda functions or containerized workloads (Kubernetes).
• Infrastructure as Code – Define and maintain IaC, ensuring reproducibility and version control of the entire stack
• Data & Messaging Layer – Architect and implement solutions leveraging DynamoDB, OpenSearch, SQS, SNS for high throughput, low latency data access and streaming.
• Observability & Reliability – Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting for CloudWatch and custom dashboards.
• CI/CD & DevSecOps - Be familiar with Gitlab pipeline, static code analysis, blue-green/canary deployments.
• Technical Leadership – Mentor 2 4 junior developers, conduct code reviews, run architecture deep dives, and champion best practice adoption (clean code, design patterns)
• Collaboration – Be able to communicate technical details / solutions as well as roadblocks to leadership and business stakeholders and provide robust solutions as needed.
• Documentation – Produce clear, up to date architectural diagrams, run books, and knowledge base articles to enable cross team consumption. Be able to prepare Standard Operating Procedure for frequently executed as well as on-call operations.

Required Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree plus 10 years of relevant experience.

Desired Technical Skills (Must Have 2 of the Below)

• Java, Spring boot or python
• Microservice architectures
• CI/CD Tools: AWS tools, Maven, Gitlab & GitOps; Kubernetes, docker
• Database : NoSQL / MongoDB Query and Schema Design
• OAuth/OIDC Implementation experience
• Test frameworks and automation to include Playwright and Cucumber

Pay Range: $55.23- $128.52pear hour*
