Job summary

Nightwing is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to automate, optimize, and manage secure cloud-based engagement kits for federal and critical infrastructure clients.

You will build robust CI/CD pipelines, manage IaC with Terraform/CloudFormation/Ansible, and automate provisioning of cloud resources to ensure rapid, secure deployments across government environments.

Qualifications

• Strong DevOps background with automation and software engineering experience.
• Experience with IaC, CI/CD, scripting and cloud services (AWS).
• Active TS/SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship required.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting a U.S. Government customer through the Engagement Support Services (ESS) contract. In this role, you will be instrumental in automating, optimizing, and managing the deployment of secure cloud-based engagement kits, known as Bespin, which are vital for cyber incident response and threat hunting operations. Your expertise will ensure that analysts and cybersecurity defenders have rapid, reliable, and scalable access to tools and environments necessary for investigating cyber threats affecting federal agencies, state and local governments, and critical infrastructure sectors. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to national cybersecurity efforts by enhancing cloud infrastructure resilience and automation capabilities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in DevOps, automation, or software engineering, complemented by relevant certifications and security clearances. U.S. citizenship is mandatory, and an active TS/SCI clearance is required to handle sensitive information securely. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience working with infrastructure-as-code tools, CI/CD platforms, scripting languages, and cloud services, particularly AWS. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent extensive experience. Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or similar are highly desirable. Additionally, candidates must be able to obtain DHS suitability and demonstrate a strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems, containerization, orchestration, and automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment of engagement kits, ensuring consistency and efficiency across environments.
• Manage source control repositories for infrastructure configurations, maintaining version control best practices.
• Implement infrastructure-as-code solutions using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to automate provisioning, configuration, and scaling of cloud resources.
• Automate the provisioning and management of cloud infrastructure components to support rapid deployment and operational stability.
• Enhance the capabilities of engagement kits through automation initiatives, optimizing performance and security.
• Collaborate closely with system architects, administrators, and security teams to streamline deployment processes and ensure compliance with security standards.
• Implement and oversee monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to maintain system health and facilitate troubleshooting during active operations.
• Support troubleshooting efforts and performance tuning to optimize system reliability and responsiveness.
• Maintain rigorous version control and change management processes to ensure deployment integrity and traceability.
• Develop automation scripts and tools to reduce manual intervention, increase repeatability, and improve deployment speed.
• Participate in security hardening, vulnerability assessments, and compliance automation efforts to uphold system security posture.
