Job summary

Huxley is seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer in the San Mateo / San Francisco Bay Area to lead infrastructure and automation for a Series C SaaS AI platform. You’ll architect scalable systems, drive CI/CD, and partner with security and engineering to improve reliability and developer experience.

You will mentor engineers, set technical direction, and own critical production services across cloud environments, with an emphasis on GCP, Kubernetes, and GitOps practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
• Experience with GCP architecture, deployment, and scaling of production systems.
• Proven CI/CD in cloud environments and infrastructure as code.
• Hands-on with Kubernetes and GitOps tooling (ArgoCD).
• Familiarity with Terraform and Crossplane.
• Monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana.
• Programming in Python and/or Go.
• Networking and security experience including API Gateways or service mesh, SSO, RBAC.

Staff DevOps Engineer | Series C | SaaS | San Mateo, CA | San Francisco, CA | $240k | Equity | GCP

Location: San Mateo, CA

Salary: $220,000 - $240,000 Base + Benefits

The Role

A rapidly growing Series C SaaS company in the AI space is seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer to serve as a technical leader in building and architecting the software, systems, and automation infrastructure that powers its products. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, security, and developer experience, partnering closely with engineering teams to drive technical strategy, mentor engineers, and own critical systems that enable reliable, scalable delivery.

You’ll act as a trusted technical advisor across the organization, architecting and implementing solutions that impact all of engineering.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain scalable, reliable, secure, and developer-friendly systems and infrastructure.
• Develop software and systems to enhance developer experience.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify and implement solutions that improve product reliability, quality, and time-to-market.
• Collaborate with Security to ensure system security and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Lead complex technical initiatives and drive organizational improvements across teams.
• Mentor DevOps and Software Engineers through design reviews and technical guidance.
• Work with engineering leadership to set technical direction and best practices for infrastructure, observability, and CI/CD.
• Maintain high standards for system architecture and design while prioritizing simplicity.
• Participate in periodic on-call duties as required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering with increasing scope and impact.
• Cloud Platforms: Extensive experience with GCP including architecture, deployment, and scaling of production systems. Bonus if you have worked also with AWS or Azure as well.
• DevOps Practices: Proven experience with observability, automation, performance engineering, and CI/CD in cloud environments.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and GitOps tools (e.g., ArgoCD).
• Infrastructure as Code: Familiarity with Terraform and Crossplane.
• Monitoring: Experience with Prometheus and Grafana.
• Programming: Proficiency in one or more languages (Python, Go preferred).
• Networking & Security: Experience with API Gateway or Service Mesh, implementing SSO, and RBAC for secure access control.
