Job summary

Quantum Technologies LLC in Atlanta, GA seeks an experienced DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer to design and maintain Chef Infra ecosystems, automate provisioning, and enforce policy-based configuration across on‑prem, cloud and hybrid environments.

You will implement Chef Automate, InSpec, Test Kitchen, and CI/CD integrations, work with compute, network, and security teams, and drive automation maturity while reducing manual toil.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Chef Infra, Chef Automate, Test Kitchen and InSpec.
• Proficiency in Ruby and scripting with PowerShell and Bash.
• Understanding of CI/CD and Git-based workflows.
• Experience in Windows and Linux administration and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Chef cookbooks, recipes, templates, attributes and custom resources.
• Build and enhance infrastructure automation pipelines for provisioning and configuration.
• Implement policy-based configuration using Chef Infra, Test Kitchen, InSpec and Chef Automate.
• Integrate Chef with CI/CD systems (AzureDevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, etc.).
• Perform error handling, versioning and code reviews for cookbook updates.
• Automate repeatable operations with platform teams across compute, storage, network and cloud.
• Troubleshoot configuration drift and infra-level issues; enforce compliance and security baselines with InSpec.
• Drive automation maturity and reduce manual operational activities; prepare docs and patterns.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintainChef cookbooks, recipes, templates, attributes, and custom resources

• Ensure high availability and performance of Windows and Linux compute platforms
• Automate operational tasks usingPowerShell, Python, Bash, Chef, or Terraform
• Participate inincident response, root cause analysis, and reliability engineering improvements
• Build dashboards, alerts, and monitoring for compute health and capacity
• Optimize VM sizing, performance tuning, lifecycle management, and patching strategy
• Implement SRE practices:SLIs, SLOs, Error Budgets, Toil reduction
• Collaborate with network, storage, security, and cloud platform teams
• Drive improvements inscalability, self‑healing, observability, and automation
• Maintain compliance and hardening standards across compute assets

Required Skills:

• Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
• Experience with configuration management tools (Chef preferred)
• Knowledge of virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V) and cloud compute (Azure/AWS)
• Understanding of monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor)
• Strong incident management and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with SRE concepts (SLOs, Error Budgets, Reliability Patterns)
