Job summary

SEITENBAU GmbH in the United States is seeking a motivated DevOps & Cloud Engineer to build and operate modern cloud and platform infrastructures using Kubernetes, working closely with product teams to improve reliability and scalability.

You will implement monitoring, automate infrastructure, and advance IaC practices with Pulumi and Terraform, while contributing to standards and aligning with German-speaking clients. Strong Python skills and German language proficiency are a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science or comparable qualification.
• Several years of professional experience developing and operating cloud-native platforms and infrastructures.
• In-depth Kubernetes expertise from design to production operation.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools Pulumi and Terraform.
• Understanding of modern software development, ideally Python.
• On-call readiness and pragmatic problem-solving in time-critical situations.
• Very good German language skills (C1).

Responsibilities

• Develop and operate modern cloud and platform infrastructures based on Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.
• Keep internal platform stable, scalable, and maintainable, and drive continuous improvement.
• Automate recurring infrastructure and operational processes.
• Work with Infrastructure-as-Code approaches and enhance automations and components.
• Establish and optimize monitoring and alerting to detect and resolve issues early.
• Analyze disruptions, identify solutions, and feed insights back into platform development.
• Collaborate with software developers and other technical roles to integrate infrastructure perspectives early.
• Help develop standards and best practices for operating cloud and platform solutions.

• You develop and operate modern cloud and platform infrastructures based on Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies together with your team.
• You ensure that our internal platform is stable, scalable, and maintainable in the long term, and continuously develop it further.
• You automate recurring infrastructure and operational processes, thereby reducing manual effort.
• You work with Infrastructure-as-Code approaches and continuously develop existing automations and platform components.
• You establish and optimize monitoring and alerting so that problems become visible early and can be resolved reliably.
• You analyze technical disruptions and error patterns, identify sustainable solutions, and incorporate the insights gained directly into the further development of the platform.
• You work closely with software developers and other technical roles, bringing your perspective on infrastructure, operations, and reliability into the development process at an early stage.
• You help further develop standards and best practices for operating modern cloud and platform solutions.

• A completed degree in computer science or a comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience developing and operating cloud-native platforms and infrastructures
• In-depth expertise in Kubernetes—from design and setup through to the production operation of complex cluster environments
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools, especially Pulumi and/or Terraform
• Understanding of modern software development principles, ideally with knowledge of Python
• Sound judgment and a pragmatic approach to complex technical challenges, including in time-critical situations
• Willingness to participate in on-call duty during regular working hours
• Very good German language skills (at least C1)
