Job summary

Arkkosoft seeks a Device Technician Lead to join a traveling team supporting the Innovation Department with deploying a plasma collection device as a trained operator and service technician. You will be the onsite resource for post go-live support and operation of the device.

The role requires hands-on pheresis procedure execution, donor interaction, and troubleshooting, with travel across the United States up to 80% and extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6+ months of experience in a medical/healthcare environment preferred.
• Specialized medical or phlebotomy training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection per SOPs, including donor setup, monitoring, and disconnect.
• Conduct venipuncture to begin the pheresis process in compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines.
• Evaluate donor vein performance, identify problems, and adjust the process to ensure donor safety and positive experience.
• Educate new donors on therapeutic products made from donated plasma, screening, nutrition, policies, and fees; answer donor questions accurately.
• Maintain alertness to donor reactions and assist with reactions or notify staff as needed.
• Record incidents during pheresis using a PDA, including alarms, volume variances, and adverse events.
• Provide guidance and technical training on processes to donor floor staff and other personnel.
• Perform calibrations and verify maintenance per SOPs; address complex equipment alarms or donor issues.
• Ensure device documentation is clear and communicated; escalate decisions, risks, and opportunities for successful deployment.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures, document incidents, remove/replace equipment, and complete required calibrations or repairs.
• Model and reinforce excellent customer service to team members, site employees, and vendors.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Position Summary

As part of a traveling team, the Device Technician Lead will support the Innovation Department with the deployment of a plasma collection device as a trained operator and service technician. This role will serve as an onsite resource for post go-live support in matters related to the operation of the device.

Key Responsibilities

• In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), perform all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor setup, donor monitoring, and donor disconnect.
• In compliance with SOPs and Food & Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines, perform venipuncture to begin the pheresis process.
• Evaluate donor vein performance to identify possible problems, make necessary corrections to expedite donation time, ensure product quality and donor safety, and adjust the process as needed to provide a positive donor experience.
• Educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma. Explain the screening process, health screening tests, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition, and other pertinent information. Ensure all donor questions are answered in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
• Maintain alertness to donor reactions and assist with reactions or notify appropriate staff.
• Use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents occurring during the pheresis process, including machine alerts and alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events.
• Provide guidance and technical training on processes and procedures to donor floor staff and other personnel as required.
• Perform calibrations and verify that maintenance has been completed as outlined in SOPs. Respond to and resolve complex equipment alarms or donor issues as needed.
• Ensure current device documentation remains clear, transparent, and appropriately communicated. Escalate key decisions, issues, risks, and opportunities required to achieve successful deployment of the device at assigned centers.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures, including creating incident documentation, removing and/or replacing equipment from service, and completing any required calibrations or repairs on collection devices.
• Model and reinforce excellent customer service to team members, site employees, and vendors.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• Minimum of six (6) months of experience in a medical or healthcare environment preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Specialized medical or phlebotomy training preferred.
