Job summary

Alarm.com is seeking an ambitious RF/EMC Engineer to lead RF performance and EMC pre-compliance efforts for our in-house hardware. You will plan and execute tests, ensure compliance with FCC/CE/RED, and document results for design teams.

The role requires 2–3 years of hands-on testing, familiarity with wireless protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot issues across multi-radio systems. You will work onsite in Tysons, contributing to robust, scalable products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field with RF/EMC background
  • 2–3 years hands-on RF performance and/or EMC testing experience
  • Familiarity with wireless protocols (cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, sub-GHz)
  • Experience troubleshooting RF performance issues and EMC failures
  • Ability to read and understand electronic schematics
  • Experience using lab equipment: oscilloscope, DC power analyzer, spectrum analyzer, VNA, signal generator, cellular tester
  • Attention to detail with focus on robustness, scalability, and product quality
  • Self-motivated with disciplined testing and vetting of wireless devices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative mindset and high achievement standards

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and perform RF performance and EMC pre-compliance testing per specs and regulatory requirements
  • Complete RF measurements (TRP/TIS, conducted power/spectrum, emissions) for high radio performance
  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, and optimize RF performance and EMC of multi-radio hardware
  • Own the certification workflow: prepare samples, develop test instructions, witness/support testing at labs
  • Document and analyze test results; communicate findings to design and program teams
  • Expand testing capabilities using AI tools and other software tools
  • Work with senior management to stay aligned with company priorities and strategies

Job description

A rapidly expanding, entrepreneurial technology company, Alarm.com , is seeking an ambitious and talented RF/EMC Engineer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently plan and perform RF performance and EMC pre-compliance testing in accordance with product specifications and applicable regulatory requirements (FCC, ISED, CE/RED).
  • Complete RF performance measurements (e.g., TRP/TIS, conducted power/spectrum, radiated/conducted emissions) to guarantee high performance across radios.
  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, and help optimize the RF performance and EMC compliance of multi-radio, in-house designed hardware.
  • Own the certification workflow: prepare test samples, develop test instructions, and witness/support testing at external certification labs.
  • Clearly document and analyze test results, and communicate findings to design and program teams.
  • Optimize and expand our testing capabilities using AI tools and other SW tools.
  • Operate independently while working with senior management to stay fully aligned with company priorities, goals, and strategies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical discipline, with a background in RF and/or EMC.
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience performing RF performance and/or EMC testing and interpreting results against pass/fail criteria.
  • Familiarity with different wireless communication protocols (cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, sub-GHz).
  • Experience troubleshooting RF performance issues and EMC compliance failures.
  • Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
  • Experience using electrical and RF lab equipment, such as: oscilloscope, DC power analyzer, spectrum analyzer, vector network analyzer, signal generator, and cellular communication tester.
  • Rigorous attention to detail with focus on robustness, scalability, and quality of products.
  • Self-motivation and the discipline to thoroughly test and vet wireless devices.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
