Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Developer Experience Lead to measure, improve, and advocate for developer experience across a complex software environment. You will base decisions on quantitative and qualitative data and drive product-oriented improvements with empathy for developers.

The role requires a strong analytical mindset, persuasive communication, and collaboration with engineering leadership to align roadmaps with developer needs and organizational value. Onsite in Chantilly, VA.

Qualifications

• 12 years' experience in DevEx, developer productivity, advocacy, or related technical discipline.
• Experience developing and implementing DevEx strategies, metrics, and measurement programs.
• Strong experience with developer productivity frameworks such as SPACE, DORA, or similar.
• Experience designing and analyzing developer surveys, usability assessments, and user research.
• Experience mapping developer journeys and identifying sources of friction.
• Understanding of modern software development workflows and platform engineering concepts.
• Ability to translate feedback into actionable improvements and collaborate with engineering teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence technical leadership.
• Active TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a DevEx strategy focused on productivity, satisfaction, and efficiency.
• Establish and track developer metrics using SPACE, DORA, and related frameworks.
• Conduct surveys and usability studies; analyze onboarding and development experiences.
• Translate feedback into actionable platform and tooling improvements.
• Partner with platform engineering to improve portal UX, self-service workflows, and docs.
• Lead developer advocacy, community activities, and leadership communications.
