Job summary

The New York Foundling is hiring a Direct Support Professional in New York to empower individuals with developmental disabilities through personalized daily support and structured activities. You will help with daily living, monitor plans, and promote independence within a compassionate team.

Responsibilities include documentation, transportation assistance, community engagement, and collaboration with healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience in direct care or human services preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with 6 months of experience and 6 or fewer points.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred; additional training in disabilities or healthcare a plus.
• Commitment to compassionate care and promoting dignity and respect for individuals.
• Ability to respond to changing needs and environments with flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Empower persons with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives through personalized support.
• Implement and monitor plans of care, including Life Plans and Behavior Support Plans.
• Provide daily living support: personal hygiene, meals, medication administration, transportation.
• Facilitate community outings and social events to promote inclusion and independence.
• Maintain records, progress notes, and incident reports; ensure policy compliance.
