Animalz is seeking a freelance developmental editor to review B2B SaaS content produced by our in-house and freelance writers. You’ll focus on long-form content, including SEO, thought leadership, and related formats.

You’ll work between writers and copyeditors to ensure the work meets quality standards and aligns with client goals. You’ll deliver actionable feedback, tailor guidance to each client’s brand, and edit for substance, structure, and clarity.

About the Role

We are looking for a freelance developmental editor to review B2B SaaS content written by our in-house and freelance writers. You’ll focus on long-form content, from SEO/AEO/GEO to thought leadership, though editors are occasionally called upon to review copy for LinkedIn, landing pages, or other formats.

Editors at Animalz play a key role in ensuring the work we deliver meets our internal bar for quality and helps our clients meet their business goals. You sit between writers and copyeditors, and while you should be able to edit prose at the line level, your primary focus is editing for substance. Does the piece of content you’re editing effectively execute the brief? Is it aligned with the client’s business goals and tailored for their audience? Is it structurally and logically sound?

To ensure each piece of content we deliver answers these questions, you’ll review content and provide writers with actionable feedback, from big-picture guidance down to inline edits. You’ll be dedicated to a specific pool of customers so you can get deeply familiar with their business and brand and provide feedback that takes into account their holistic strategy, not just each individual piece.

Requirements

• Experience writing and editing diverse forms of content for B2B tech, especially long-form content (blog posts, ebooks, guides, etc.)
• Working knowledge of SEO and AEO/GEO best practices. You don’t need to be an expert, but you should know the basics
• Ability to deliver actionable feedback. You can communicate why changes should be made, balancing candor with respect
• Ability to quickly get up to speed on new industries, companies, and products
• Knowledge of and interest in the B2B tech industry and content marketing trends and best practices
• Available 5-10 hours per week (schedule varies; you’ll be expected to deliver edits within 1 business day of receiving an assignment)

Nice to Have:

• Experience working in-house at a B2B tech company
• Experience developing and executing content strategies
• Experience as a manager, mentor, or coach for writers (formal or informal)
