Job summary

HomeSafe in Palm Beach County is seeking a Developmental Consultant to provide screening and assessment for children up to age five and their families, interpreting data to identify needed services and supports.

The role involves in-home or community visits, flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends, and documenting appointments and referrals for the Healthy Beginnings Program. Strong bilingual ability and a Florida driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Must have bilingual English/Spanish language proficiency.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in child welfare or related field.
• Flexibility for evening and weekend availability.
• Valid Florida driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide Screening and Assessment services for children up to age five and their families using approved tools.
• Analyze and interpret screening data to identify appropriate services.
• Identify risk factors, client needs, and determine required supports.
• Conduct home visits or community visits to families.
• Schedule after-hours appointments and weekends as needed to accommodate families.
• Record appointments, referrals, and activities in the supervisor system daily.

Here’s what the job involves

The Developmental Consultant will:

• Provide Screening and Assessment services for children through age five (5) and/or their families utilizing approved assessment tools.
• Analyze and interpret screening and assessment data; identifies and recommends appropriate services to system participants.
• Identify risk, protective factors, and client needs through designated assessments and/or second level screening tools.
• Conduct visits with families in their homes or other designated locations within the community.
• Ensure flexibility and accessibility to families by accommodating appointments after school, in the evenings and/or on the weekends when families may be more available.
• Record and reports appointments, referrals, home visits, and all other work related Healthy Beginnings Program activities to supervisor on a daily basis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services (preferably in a field such as social work, developmental psychology, and/or early childhood education).
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in child welfare, primary prevention services, child development or related field.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Flexible with evening availability twice a week and weekend availability twice a month to accommodate client schedules.
• Valid Florida’s driver’s license is required.
